RECS 2024 Planning UpdatesPlanning for the Research and Evaluation Conference on Self-Sufficiency (RECS) 2024 is now in full swing! Here are a few updates from the RECS planning team: - The conference agenda is taking shape and will be shared starting this spring. The RECS planning team is busy developing an engaging conference agenda from the many high-quality proposals submitted for consideration. We anticipate releasing a high-level conference schedule in March, sending notifications of proposal acceptance by the end of March, and sharing a more detailed conference agenda by early May. The schedule will include a variety of session formats, including panel discussions, roundtables, Emerging Scholars presentations, and many opportunities for participants to connect.
- RECS 2024 is being planned primarily as an in-person event. We are excited to convene in person this year! RECS 2024 will take place May 29-31, 2024 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC.
- RECS will also offer virtual participation in some conference sessions. The conference will offer a limited number of sessions online, including select sessions livestreamed from the conference hotel and a small number of virtual-only events.
- Registration will open in March for both in-person and virtual attendees. As always, registration is free and open to the public.
- The RECS 2024 hotel room block is open now! Visit the Hotel and Travel page of the RECS website to make a room reservation at the Capital Hilton via the online booking link. To assist in your travel planning, please note that RECS will consist of two full days of sessions on May 29-30, starting at 8:45 am ET, and a half day of sessions on May 31 that will conclude by 1 pm
ET.
Spotlight on Emerging Scholars One of the conference’s goals is to foster the work of early-career researchers in fields related to family self-sufficiency. RECS 2024 will feature presentations by Emerging Scholars, who are current PhD and master’s students or recent graduates (since 2019). The conference will also host networking opportunities specifically tailored
to Emerging Scholars attending the conference. We encourage and welcome Emerging Scholars to attend RECS and will share more details in the coming months.
