Hotel Room Block for RECS 2024 Now Open

The Research and Evaluation Conference on Self-Sufficiency (RECS) 2024, convened by the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation in the Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will take place May 29-31, 2024, at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC.

RECS 2024 is being planned primarily as an in-person event. However, select sessions will be livestreamed. Additional details about in-person and virtual content will be shared in 2024.

Registration for the conference, which is free and open to the public, will open in spring 2024.

RECS 2024 Proposals Due August 14

The Call for Proposals for the Research and Evaluation Conference on Self-Sufficiency (RECS) 2024 is open!

All proposal submissions are due Monday, August 14, 2023 at 11:59 pm ET. 

OPRE invites proposals for full conference sessions, individual presentations, roundtables, and Emerging Scholars posters in the following topic areas:

  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) programs, policies, and populations
  • Employment and mobility in the labor market
  • Youth well-being and the transition to adulthood
  • Strengthening families, fatherhood, marriages, and relationships

  • Evaluating social programs, building evidence, and using data

  • Approaches to alleviate poverty and expand opportunity       

Within these conference tracks, OPRE encourages proposals that include speakers with diverse perspectives and proposals with a focus on equity. Please see the RECS 2024 Call for Proposals Guidelines and Instructions for more information.
