Thank you to all who submitted proposals for RECS 2024. We received many high-quality submissions that represent a variety of research topics related to family self-sufficiency. Submissions are currently under review, and notifications will be sent to all submitters in March 2024. We look forward to sharing the conference agenda in spring 2024.

 

Reasons to Attend RECS 2024

New to the Research and Evaluation Conference on Self-Sufficiency (RECS)?

RECS 2024, convened by the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation in the Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will take place May 29-31, 2024, at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC.

There are so many great reasons to attend RECS 2024! For example:

  • Participate in person or from the comfort of your desk: RECS is being planned primarily as an in-person event. However, select sessions will be livestreamed with options for interaction with live presenters.
  • Save on professional development: RECS is completely free and open to the public! Enjoy an opportunity to connect and learn with a $0 registration fee.
  • Stay current on research in the field: It can be hard to keep up with the latest research in any field. RECS provides a valuable opportunity to step away from your day-to-day responsibilities and learn about the latest findings from evaluations of social programs, policies, and services that support families on the path to economic self-sufficiency and well-being.
  • Engage your way: RECS 2024 will include a variety of session formats, including presentations, panel discussions, roundtables, and Emerging Scholars lightning talks. The conference schedule also will include networking events, exhibits, and other opportunities for participants to connect.
  • Choose your own adventure: RECS sessions are categorized into topical conference tracks covering Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), employment, youth well-being, family strengthening, evaluating social programs, and approaches to alleviating poverty.
  • Something for everyone: The conference is intended for a broad audience, including state, local, and federal government officials, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners in the family self-sufficiency field. Meet and hear from participants across sectors.

RECS 2024 is being planned primarily as an in-person event. However, select sessions will be livestreamed. Additional details about in-person and virtual content will be shared in spring 2024.

Registration for the conference, which is free and open to the public, will open in spring 2024.
